weekend get-away...

Our Fredericksburg weekend get-away is finally here! We are so excited about it. A little history...we first went to F-burg for our first anniversary and fell in love with the little town, and the hill country in general. Now, we've made it a point to go each year. This will be our 3rd trip! The first year we went for thier Memorial Day Annual Crawfish Festival, last year we went for their 4th of July Celebration, and this year...we're going for OKTOBERFEST!

As usual, we will be staying at our favorite B&B, the Chuckwagon Inn. It's the best!! It's located a couple miles outside of town in the COUNTRY, and there are a few cabins with one main house, where the couple live and where a FULL breakfast is served. Here's a picture of the cute couple, Crazy Sam and Becky Higgins.

Here's the "main house" dinning room.

And...our cabin! "Bolinger Cabin"
look closely and you'll see my favorite part...the porch swing!

inside pics...cute spa tub :)

cute bedroom (very southern..I love it!)

A little history about Sam and Becky: they are seasoned veterans of the bed and breakfast business, but they are also old hands at cooking and entertaining. They have been featured in Bon Appétit and Southern Living magazines, teach cooking classes, and have catered political, company, and private parties across the country. In addition, Sam has been a guest chef at the Beringer Vineyards in Napa, CA. Sam and Becky have won many blue ribbons for their cooking exploits at the State Fair of Texas, and have written three cookbooks, including the best selling I'm Glad I Ate When I Did, 'Cause I'm Not Hungry Now.

Sam is such a great cook, and breakfast is my favorite meal! And he's very much a redneck republican...which is so refreshing :). Yes, the rebel flags everywhere are a bit much, but hey, it's history. Don't judge unless you have studied the Civil War as much as he has and have actually participated in war re-enactments.

When we visited last year, Sam was going through a "hunting armadillo in his underwear" phase. Luckily, it was in the wee hours of the morning, and we did not get a visual of this. Guess when your wife complains about the armadillos tearing up your flowerbeds there's only one solution! Plus...I can't say I've never seen my grandmother, Mer, hunting armadillos in the middle of the night in her nightgown and boots. Gotta love Texas.

To finish off a great weekend, we will be stopping by Luckenbach to see a perfermance by the one and only Kimberly Kelly! It's so crazy that she's playing there the one weekend we'll be there! http://www.kimberlykellymusic.com/

Needless to say...I'm so excited about this weekend! The weather should be PERFECT. Low of 64 degrees tonight and high of 73 degrees tomorrow! We leave at 1pm and won't be back till Sunday evening. SO PUMPED! Have a great and safe weekend everyone!
